Welcome to Sarn Pottery

Welcome to Sarn Pottery, founded 40 years ago by Oldrich Asenbryl in 1970, and still going strong.

Oldrich, together with his wife Jenny, create high quality pottery  and sculptures, to provide one of the finest selections of handmade craft pottery in Wales.

Sarn Pottery is housed in a 16th century stable with its original pebble stone floor and is situated opposite the Penhryn Arms Hotel in the small historic North Wales village of Sarn Meyllteyrn. Here, in this picturesque setting, halfway between Pwllheli and Aberdaron on the B4413, we welcome you to our Gallery and Pottery of fine stoneware and porcelain.

Two different stoneware clays are used; white and dark brown for high temperature (up to 1320 Centigrade). Porcelain is also used for one-off sculptures. The glazes are mixed from some of the locally found materials such as wood ashes and red clay from nearby Hell’s Mouth beach. The typical Sarn red glaze is achieved with the use of copper oxide. Cobalt, iron, vanadium and chrome oxides are also used for on-glaze decoration.

Please feel free to take a tour around this website to find out more about us at Sarn Pottery. We have photographs of a selection of our work and you can browse through these on our 'Photo Galleries' section of the website.
